Michael Möllers

Michael (fiddle, vocals, guitar, viola) comes from Rheine and it was there in his local youth club in 1973 after an Irish Night that his musical journey began. They were showing an old black and white film of Irish music in County Clare with pictures of the Milltown and Kilrush Festivals from the 60s, dance, uilleann pipes, songs, many, many fiddles and footage of Michael Hughes, a singer and banjo player from Belfast. These images left a lasting impression and soon after Michael climbed into the attic, found his father’s old fiddle and restored it.
He studied music in Münster and took violin lessons. His repertoire and experience grew, playing Irish Music with "Mountain Dew", German Folk Music with both "Fundevogel" and "Die Jungs vom Baggerloch" and American Old Time Music with "Chicken Skin String Band". He is a huge part of the session scene in Hannover and is involved in the band project "Dahlhoff - Die Band" which concentrates on traditional German music.
In 1986, Michael's work as a music teacher brought him to Hannover. In nearby Salzhemmendorf he met Sue at the thriving "Folk-Club am Ith" and they formed Emerald.
